FirstOff Records is a relatively young label, but they keep releasing awesome albums by fantastic bands! This one is one of such records. Rundown Kreeps just released their new album and I listened to it and reviewed it for this webzine.
Rundown Kreeps are a three piece ska melodic punkrock band from California, Los Angeles area. They were formed in 2009. playing the fine mix of melody, ska dancing rythms and punkrock with heart, soul and balls. This album contains 12 songs and I am now listening to it for the fifth time and am amazed by the energy, feel good anthemic choruses and sing along parts. The vocals, as you readers know are very important to me in such music and this band delivers excellent vocals and backing vocal harmonies. I loved the doo wop influenced ska song “Not a Clue” with a great speedy part at the end of the song, making it one of my personal favorites on this record. The lyrics are personal but with a good dose of irony and humour and I always love when the emotion is incorporated into punkrock songs. The other personal favorites on this record are “Worst Day Since Yesterday” and “Pulling Pins”, but all of the songs are just excellent. This is one of the best punkrock bands that came out this year!
Summer is on, the best season of the year is on, and how better to accompany the barbecue party on a sunny day than with the new, second studio album by Australian trio Columbus.
This Brisbane, Australia trio just released their brand new studio effort which contains 10 songs of nice melodic punkrock, almost pop punk with a slight touch of indie rock. Don´t let that scare you when you see pop punk added to these guys band name. Quite the contrary, the set of songs on this album provided by this band is just awesome as a soundtrack for daydreaming on a hot, summer day and riding on your bike or just having a lazy beer in someone´s backyard. The songs are not fast, they are punkrock mid tempo but I personally love “Care at all” having a nice harmonic chorus. “Give up” is also one of my personal favorites on this record. This is a feelgood record. I couldn´t listen to is every day, that´s true, but I loved it today!
You gotta love the French hardcore scene giving us so many excellent bands and TEN MINUTES LATER from Saint Étienne is definitely one of them. This is their album, and if you love melodic and fast, energetic hardcore, you should definitely check out this one! I listened the album and reviewed it for this webzine!
The record contains 10 songs of awesome hardcore and these guys have been around delivering the fast hardcore since 2016. The songs are awesome and fast. The lyrics are a fine mix of politically engaged and personal and these guys have their hearts and beliefs in the right places. I love “Her Smile” with nice emotional lyrics and melody. There are also some ultra fast almost chaotic songs like “Too expensive” about the price of work. The whole record is an awesome mix of European fast political hardcore punk with American hardcore from the 80-ies. The short and sweet “Pepsi Generation” brought the point in less than a minute. This whole album is an energy hardcore bomb just waiting to strike, so check it out!
