Dropkick Murphys are back with new tenth full length record, it has been four years since the last full length. This is the most known punk rock band from Boston and we all know their history, from Bruisers till now. Now, I must admit that I love first records when DM were more streetpunk oi and less celtic punk, but that is my personal taste. That doesn´t mean that there were no good songs on later albums, but I never could say that I found newer albums good in their entirety. This one is no different. There are eleven songs on this one and melody is here, energy is here, great vocal lines and choruses are here, but I still miss something. Like DM now sound more like Pogues and less like punk rock band they were. Besides title song, Mick Jones Nicked My Pudding and Smash Shit Up are my personal favorites on this album. Rest is too weak.
Grindcore band Gulguta‘s new album “Andzía” doesn’t have a release date yet but the band just reveals the opening track “Fille du Vent”. The good people at Nuclear Winter Records continue to do an amazing job with re releasing some jewels of Australian underground that people like me haven´t had chance to hear prior to this re releases. One of them is Temple Nightside. They were formed in 2010 with intention to play Death Metal Necromancy and today this band consists of current and former members from many notable Australian and New Zealand bands, including Ill Omen, Grave Upheaval, Diocletian, Nazxul, Ulcerate, and Vassafor, to name but a few. This is a re release of their debut record containing music that will melt your face off. The music of Temple Nightside is a raw and blistering all out attack of black death metal, kinda reminding me of Archgoat in a way. Meaning dark atmosphere that you can cut with a knife, blast beats, apocalyptic sharp guitar riffs, thundering bass and growling death metal vocals. This record is pure evil and I love it. Songs are not long, but hit you right in your face. This is a great one indeed.
