Getitgotitgood is the second single that will feature in Burnt Tapes upcoming emotionally reflective and environmentally focussed EP, Grower. The single is out August 7th.

The single comes with a music video by Luigi Sibona, filmed at The Fighting Cocks in Kingston.

Instead of releasing their upcoming EP on a CD or vinyl record, the 4 tracks will be available alongside a small Beech tree that can be planted, in efforts to help the local environment and climate change. The EP will be out on September 4th.

As guitarist, Phil, explains: “We wanted to do something a little different, more sustainable and planet-friendly. Something you can plant and nurture, and watch grow. Don’t get me wrong, we love a good band t-shirt! But we need more green spaces in order to tackle the climate emergency, and hopefully, we can raise more awareness about this through this initiative. And most of all provide you with some wholesome family fun”.

The pandemic may have put a halt on the plans of Burnt Tapes US/UK and EU festival and tours, this year, but this hasn’t stopped them pushing on with new music, social activism and sustainability.

“Everyone’s been affected in very different ways by Corona. We are fortunate to have been healthy during this time, and we have tried to use it to reflect on ourselves and the world around us.” said Phil.

Alongside the upcoming EP, Burnt Tapes also released some acoustic songs for the Black Minds Matter charity.

Grower and the Beech Tree package will be available for pre-order on the Lockjaw Records from the 7th August.

Burnt Tapes are a four-piece melodic punk rock band based in London, UK, known for creating their own unique brand of ‘regret punk’. Inspired by emotive heavy-hitters like Iron Chic and Polar Bear Club, their 2017 EP Alterations was a 6-track gruff-punk gem, loaded with hooks and tattoo-worthy lyrical twists.

Burnt Tapes met as teenagers in Athens, Greece; serendipitously migrating to London before forming the band in 2014. Their Wasted History demo was self-released that year.

Since then, they have played over 100 shows across Europe, sharing stages with the likes of Red City Radio, Pkew Pkew Pkew, The Penske File, Nothington and The Bombpops, as well as exciting audiences at Manchester Punk Festival, Washed Out Fest and Rebellion Festival, to name just a few. In 2017, Burnt Tapes released Alterations via Lockjaw Records and Umlaut Records. They’ve followed it in 2019 with their debut album Never Better.

NOFX & Frank Turner-West Coast Vs. Wessex(Fat Wreck Chords)

cover

NOFX are back this time delivering split with Frank Turner, each of them covering the songs by another. Each covers five songs. NOFX side is fantastic, I am not so much a fan of Frank Turner and his work, but NOFX delivered here fantastic job with Worse Things Happen At Sea and Thatcher Fucked The Kids having sound like old school NOFX stuff, delivering a lesson i melodic skatepunk. I love the new phase of Fattie and the gang, having more darker approach to the lyrics and songmaking, leaving somehow the old school fun and jokes behind, having more personal, battle your demons approach. But, this is cover e.p., so they are not writing songs here, but still I love the NOFX side a lot. The set of songs done by Frank Turner are cool, especially Scavenger Type and Eat The Meek. I am surprised how both managed to keep their sound with other artist`s songs making it sound like their own and even better. This is not your typical boring cover songs release. Go get this one.

(review) Peace Test-Uniform Repression

Peace Test are straightedge hardcore punk band from Providence, HP Lovecraft´s town hehe. But, of course they have nothing to do with the late horror writer legend, but they delivered awesome new release with angry and fast hardcore punk with short songs sounding like outbursts of angry machine gun staccato, with screaming vocals, 80-ies influenced old school hardcore with more punk than nowadays metal influenced riffs. There are six anthems of anger, fight and not giving up on this one and being an old school hardcore guy, I definitely love this record. Songs like Authority and Vegetative State will have you finger pointing and fist pumping and pogoing in no time. Marvelous record!
