As a staple to their live set, “Bills To Pay” is also the first track the band jammed on when they first got together. Recorded at Toronto’s acclaimed Phase One Studios (Rush, Alice Cooper, The Tragically Hip) and produced, engineered, mixed, and mastered by Murray Daigle (Neverest, Platinum Blonde, Serena Ryder).

Having released a demo EP – recorded in Massachusetts with former Bang Tango guitarist, Scott LaFlamme- and a live album in 2017, One In The Chamber is gearing up to release their debut studio EP – recorded at Phase One Studios with Murray Daigle at the helm – this coming summer. “Bills To Pay” is the first of what’s to come.

(record review)REMARK-“Keep Running e.p.”

Russia is a huge country with huge and awesome proactive underground scene. Coming from Moscow, this time REMARK is here for me to listen and review for this zine.

This e.p. contains four songs, two of them being the band´s own songs, and two covers being “Shout” originally by Tears for Fears, and other “Too close” by Alex Clare. The first song “Comeback” was not something I liked very much because I never loved grunge when it was big in the 90-ies and this song sounds just too grungy for me, like Stone Temple Pilots or bad version of Alice in Chains. The second song “Purple Haze” was also grungy but not too much and has a nice melody making it enjoyable and the best song on this record. Tears for Fears cover was okay, predictable, nothing special but okay. The other cover I have never heard originally, so I can˙t judge but I guess it was also okay. Too grungy for me, but maybe fans of such music will love it!

(record review)LAUTREAMONT-“Silence of the diseased”

I just love underground extreme music scene and discovering new and dismal and great sounding bands. I found another one and Lautreamont is worth your time if you like Slavic black death metal with lyrics in native Russian language.

130933

Formed in 2015. and hailing from the utter depths of Russia, namely Novorossiysk, a port city on the Black Sea in Southern Russia this avantgarde black death metal trio released one e.p. “Insomnia” and took their time in preparing the full length album because I believe they wanted everything produced and prepared for the fans to be just perfect. When the record started to play, the first thing I noticed was how strong the bass sounds in the production like it is carrying the song structure. The second thing I noticed are some eerie back melodies in the first song “Evil” and how the band sounds tight and well played. “Father” just blew my mind with machine gun riffing and I almost felt torn from within with this music. The lyrics are in Russian and the atmosphere is dark, bleak and it images the bleak and desperate greyness of post Soviet Russia. the country which inspired a lot of dark songs and awesome bands. The title song is for me one of the best songs on the record with epic but raw atmosphere. “Psalm” again has some eeried sounds that is like electronic mixed with singing in the background and it sounds awesome. “Epitaph” mixes slow almost sludgy atmospheric parts with some proggressive and straight brutal parts making it an awesome soundscape. The last song “Coda” is an instrumental with almost dark ambient vibe and with it we accept the inevitable end. Awesome album!
