(review) Primal Creation – News Feed

News_Feed_frontcover_digipak

Belgian thrashers Primal Creation have been in the scene since 2007 and this is their second full length album. There are nine songs on this opus and first one called Extremely Dangerous serves as kind of intro to the thrash mayhem that awaits us when it starts for real. The music of Primal Creation can be described as brutal thrash metal, bordering somewhere between old school of European thrash metal and American more modern version of groove and street smart thrash. Lyrics deal with failures of us as humans, injustice, sarcastic yet in your face and smart at the same time. Vocals are angry and shouted but there are enough death metal influenced growls to satisfy brutal fiends like in excellent Vial Play. Dual guitars deliver groovy and brutal riffs, but there are lots of catchy hooks and melodies underneath all the brutality. Rhythm section does its work impeccable destroying everything in their path. This is a lesson in thrash metal.

(review) Demenzia Mortis – Anti Kult (Sounds of Hell)

DEMENZIA MORTIS - ANTI KULT

Demenzia Mortis are hailing from Belgium and this is their first full length album out with Sounds of Hell. What to expect here? This is a ferocious all out war! A no holds barred black death blasting assault that will melt your face off and make you beg for mercy and for more at the same time. After ominous machine gun backed intro, battle begins. Blast beats, fast black metal kicks in and Codex 666 reminded me a bit of Marduk´s best opus but that in no way means Demenzia Mortis clone anybody. The vocals vary between black metal screams singing mainly and death metal growling occasionally. The record contains nine songs, two being intro and outro, but there is also a bonus track and digipack contains two more bonus songs, so be sure to order yours. Through all the brutality, there are some atmospheric parts that add to the drama like awesome Antikult being one of my personal favorites with diabolic vibe and death metal rolling drums like satanic legions marching only to turn into ultra fast destroyer. Also, for me highlights on this record are: Dark Resolution and Above & Beyond. Great and strong record.

(review) Nutshell – Tidal Waves

a3471366793_10

Nutshell are from Leuven, Belgium and this is their new e.p. These five entities grew up, as they say, on different forms of punk rock and they amalgamated all their influences in their music, thus making Nutshell what it is. What do we have here? We have five songs of mighty punk rock bordering with garage punk influences in the songwriting and the music itself is very energetic, yet there is some subtle melody underneath it all, like in one of my personal favorites Florida Man with that wicked guitar hooks of melody. Vocals are shouted and a bit nervous at times, but they are just like they are supposed to be for this kind of punk. Guitars are also very crispy, noisy and hit you right in the eye along with thunderous drumming and pumping bass. Lyrics are a bit humorous, a bit personal and a bit political if you read between the lines. I like this one. If you are a fan of this kind of punk rock, go get this one.
