Death/doom veterans On Thorns I Lay released their new album with Season of Mist. There are only six songs on this album which lasts a little under 45 minutes long. What do we have here? The mixture of doom and death metal with occasional funeral doom thrown in the song structures. Sombre melodies, topped with growling and anguished vocals, rolling doom drums and atmosphere that sometimes meets death metal aggression but main and best part of this album are the melodies, main guitar hooks and melodies which get into your ear as a listener and make you want to listen to over and over again. Although some of the songs are long, there is absolutely no boring part in any second of this album, there are no filler songs, I can only imagine how this material sounds live. So, if you are into crushing doom/death metal go get this one.

Chile’s Funeral Death/Doom Metal Horde MORNING DEAD Reveals Details of New Album “Desde El Otro Lado”; Watch The Single “Suplicio”

Chilean funeral death/doom metal band MORNING DEAD is proud to announce that its first full-length, entitled “Desde El Otro Lado”, will be released on December 8th under Tragedy Productions. The album will be available as digipak with an 8-pages booklet, plus streaming and download from the digital platforms.

Along its 10 tracks and over 38 minutes of playing time, “Desde El Otro Lado” gives fresh air to the death/doom genre, thanks to the presence of keyboards and guitars that influence each other, giving a strong level of emotion to the band’s sound.

“Desde El Otro Lado” (eng: “from the other side”) is a work composed of diverse sensory passages interpreted through an overwhelming doom metal atmosphere, which takes as inspiration the sea and southern winds from Chile. It’s a journey that immerses you in introspection and density, represented, as seen in the marvelous cover, by a solitary being staring heartlessly at an infinite horizon.

The album was recorded at Sound Pro studio by Cristian Brintrup, between August 2021 and January 2022. Mixed and mastered by B. Barrantes at Necrotic Estudio, between October 2022 and May 2023.

“Morning Star” symbolizes the first light of dawn, a reminder that spiritual enlightenment shines upon those who are ready. It represents Lucifer as the bringer of light and knowledge, challenging the traditional perception of fear. The band invites listeners to seek their own truth and understanding, urging them to awaken from the layers of lies that have been woven through time.

STRATUZ emerged onto the metal scene in 1984 and quickly solidified their position as Venezuela’s most revered metal band. Their debut album, “In Nomine…” released in 1995, catapulted them to recognition and acclaim. Following a triumphant European tour in 1999, they signed with LSP-Company and released “Spirit Seduction,” which marked a new chapter in their musical journey. After a hiatus, the band reunited in 2019, pouring their passion into the creation of “Osculum Pacis,” which was unleashed upon the world in 2022. The album garnered international praise, securing the top spot on the Jacquin Ravens Top 50 Metal chart and earning accolades as the best work of 2022 by esteemed journalist Roberto Palmitesta and Metal Pedia.
