(record review)TERROR-Total Retaliation

I never dug Terror really much. The firs two albums were awesome and later on I kinda lost the pleasure in listening to their songs. In the meantime, the band played their hearts out and worked their asses off to gather a remarkable fan base throughout the worldwide hardcore community.

Cover

This new record contains 13 songs and who listened to the last couple of Terror˙s albums knows what I am talking and writing about. It is no holds barred hardcore with equal base in punkrock and also metal, so the music of Terror is old school hardcore done for new millenium hehe. What immediately comes to mind upon listening to the new record is that it is way better than the predecessor which didn˙t work so well for me. The new record is full of energy, brutality, but also positive message and it holds out the hand of friendship, looking after yourself and those you care about. There is a weird hip hop song PostArmageddon Interlude which is just awful and couple of really brutal, but boring songs on this record. But, fortunately, there are some good ones like  Get off my back and Spirit of sacrifice. In all, I am not a fan of this band, but this record has equal amount of boring and good songs.

(record review)Scarboro-Wolves on the radio(WTF records)

We already featured Scarboro in an recent interview on the pages of this zine. Now is the time for me to listen and review their new record out on WTF records for this zine.

SCARBORO HR

Scarboro are from Brooklyn, New York, but apart from the other bands on the NYHC scene, this band is leaning more towards punkrock side of things. This record contains 5 songs. When you listen to this band, you have to take the raw and untamed energy of Black Flag, emotional and larger than life melody of Descendents, mix it with both feet standing firmly inside New York hardcore history and legacy and you get the music of this band. I love this record. Of course, everyone of us always finds some of song favorites on the records we listen, so mine are the title song and Another Day. The vocals are just right, melodic but enough harsh to pass as hardcore vocals and the musicianship and the sound of the record is in my opinion great. I would like very much to hear the full length record in the future. Awesome!
