(review) REUNIONS-Winter Heart, Summer Skin

Reunions from San Francisco recently released their first full length record and I listened and reviewed it for this zine.

Reunions - Winter Heart, Summer Skin Art SM

After first two ep-s, the writing and recording process for this first full length took almost two years. This album contains ten songs of beautiful melodic 90-ies punkrock with some emo touch thrown in for good measure. The music of this band can be compared to Nothington, Hot Water Music, even Bouncing Souls and I love every single minute of this album. These are emotions hundred percent pure mixed with ferocious rebellion of punkrock with lyrics created from depths of the soul that everyone can relate to. If I must recommend some songs that are like highlights of the record for me, that would be Present Past Future Perfect, Sentimentality Is For Suckers, and Slow Fade. This is a great record and if you are a fan of punk with emotions and melody, go get this one.

(record) SOUTHPAW-The Darkness Inside(Jukebox Romeo Records)

Remember Southpaw? A while ago we did a review of their great record called Disconnected and now is the time for us to listen to the new stuff by this great band, out with Jukebox Romeo Records.

I love how this band managed to sound dirty, gritty, yet melodic from their last record to this new one without losing that primal punkrock fast energetic touch. They still sound to me like a cross between Cancerslug and Jughead´s Revenge, the latter especially with the awesome raspy and melodic vocal lines that this band provides. There are four songs on this new record and all of them are just perfect, so it is very hard for me to divide which one is my favorite. If I must, I would go with Do You Remember and Lost somehow being my favorites. The song structures are varied from faster, more straightforward hardcore punk to slower and more emotional song parts making the record one perfect whole to enjoy and listen to over and over again. To sum it all up, another superb record by this great band.

Hard touring band THE RUN UP (Bristol, UK) have announced that their new record will be released in time for their US tour following their popular ‘Good Friends, Bad Luck’ EP which was released in November 2018.

The melodic punks have spent much of the last two years playing across Europe, crafting a name for themselves as one of the most exciting bands in the punk rock scene right now.

There is a plethora of labels releasing the record “It’s amazing to have so many rad labels and people involved with releasing our new record, we are truly honored” says Daniel, bassist. “We 10 long days in York recording with Dave Boothroyd at Reel Recording Studios and it was an amazing experience. Dave is a champion and has became a good friend through the experience. He pushed us and helped the record turn out to be what it is, our best yet by a long way.”

“We spoke to lots of labels, including some huge ones; we listened to our friends and took on all the advice we could. We needed to feel comfortable with how the release was going to be and we are so stoked with the labels involved. Real Ghost Records in the UK, Gunner Records in Europe and our new friends La Escalera Records (CA), Swamp Cabbage (FL), Money Pit Music (GA), Get Party (Canada) and &Vinyl (TN) in North America have all been a dream to work with. All amazing people who we are eternally grateful for for putting their  belief in us.”

The official relese date is 3rd October with the band hitting the US for a month-long tour and then head back tour Europe to conitue party with a further 3 weeks of touring.

Stay tuned for more info, singles and videos!
