(news – pop punk) Atlas for Home released new song featuring singer of mirabelle!

Following two up-tempo & pop punk songs called ‘Keep Going” & OMG‘) released in 2022, Atlas for Home are back in 2023 with the soft & angry emo-ballad ‘Stay the Same’. A 3 minutes ride inspired by bands such as Brand New & Gleemer. A track which incorporates elements from shoegaze to indie rock and post-hardcore.

This song is about the daily quest for reality, honesty, pureness, in a world where everything is more fake, digital, disconnected.

Atlas for Home on Stay the Same :
‘Stay the Same is a soft/down tempo song we created and recorded a while ago. It is about being spontaneous and real in a disconnected world. We never knew when was the perfect moment to release it so we decided a few weeks ago that now is the perfect moment as we feel like we need to do what is being told in this song. It’s kind of a fragile song, more shoegaze/post hardcore, types of music we also like.’

(review) Back Pedal – ‘Stress’

I love discovering some bands like Back Pedal. These guys are hailing from Missouri and this is their new release containing seven songs. The music of Back Pedal is superb, mix of styles that I love in pop punk and melodic punk rock. That means it’s as if I listen to Descendents mixed with Teenage Bottlerocket or The Lillingtons. This is energetic fast and ultra melodic punk rock with short but sweet songs, not unlike above mentioned bands. Vocals are great, melodic and not snotty, but I would love if they could be a bit more louder in the next recordings of this excellent band. Guitars are raw and remind of early Ramones guitar work, the drummer is singer for this band, so that is another plus for me. I would like to see this band deliver their music live, I am sure they are energetic and fun as Hell to check out live. My personal favorites on this record are: ‘T.H.P.S.’, ‘Little Psycho’ and ‘Adore’. Great one, I look forward to more stuff from Back Pedal.

(review) Equipment – ‘Miracle’

Equipment are hailing from Toledo, Ohio and this is their new release containing five songs. Music of Equipment can be described as emotional filled melodic pop punk with indie and alternative influences thrown in for good measure. Songs like ‘Talk To Strangers’ I can lyrically totally relate to, although all songs are very personal and kind of dealing with something with most of us are dealing with or have dealt with in the past or will deal with in the future. Vocal lines are melodic but also kind of harsh voice in some songs, I like that very much, with great backing harmonies and sometimes also harsher backing vocals especially in aforementioned song. ‘Finstacore’ is a great song about prejudices and hating the different, this one if one of my favorites on this record. As the band says, this EP is in fact part four of the quadrilogy and I am really glad I discovered this fine band.
