(record review)Teeth Cutter-Demo

I already said in a couple of features of this zine that I consider the underground scene to be a living, breathing thing, constantly shifting, in motion and evolving this way or that.

It constantly throws out on it´s shores new bands, new awesome people, activists, labels and promoters. This time I listened and reviewed Teeth Cutter demo for our zine.

This trio hails from Newbugrh, NY and they play punkrock mixed with some hardcore influences, but this is all punk music. Their demo contains 4 songs and it´s recorded in basement, I think in their rehearsal room but no matter, the songs are awesome and I loved every minute of this demo. For me the best song on the demo is No Room to Breathe and I heard some d-beat in there but I am not sure, maybe it is only me. Given Guilt reminds me a lot of old school punk bands from the 80-ies like Black Flag and Circle Jerks springing to mind almost instantly. The guys put out their demo on Bandcamp for free or for name your price, so go get their demo, and if you download it, write them a line or two, I am sure they´ll appreciate it a lot.

(new video)Elm Tree Circle release nostalgia loaded music video f or “ Yes It Is“ that gets you hooked for upcoming live dates

That the turn of the millenium was a major influence on the sound of
upcoming emo-punk-newcomers Elm Tree Circle is no secret to anyone who has listened to their debut album “The Good Life”. Their recently released video for “Yes It Is” underlines the bands relation to this era by coming along in a charming VHS-tape-look and classic 4:3 format.
The video for the concluding song of their current album “Yes It Is“ takes the viewer on a journey through the happiest moments of their The Good Life Tour as
well as their shows with Englands most hyped newcomer Boston Manor. For 2:50 minutes, melancholic lyrics and a melodic lead guitar accentuate the soft focused images that make you feel like diging through a pile of old family-VHS-tapes that keep you craving for more nostalgia loaded memories
.
Luckily the band has announced selected tour dates for the second half of 2018
giving you the chance to become a part of their private family-VHS-tape-pile:

(record review)FACE TO FACE-“Hold Fast”(Fat Wreck Chords)

Face to Face is another in the list of punkrock bands that released an acoustic album. The album came out via Fat Wreck Chords and I listened to the album and reviewed it for this webzine.

cover

The album contains 10 songs of nice and acoustic melodic punkrock. The songs are quality stuff like we are used to from Trever Keith and his gang being in the scene since 1991. delivering melodic and energetic punkrock. I personally like this band but somehow they always missed my list of favorite bands. They were always somewhere around but never like hit me or made goosebumps on my skin. I saw them play live last year at Punk Rock Holiday and they were good, but their show was not one of the festival highlights for me. Nevertheless, this record has a couple of hitters like “Velocity” or almost country styled “Don˙t Turn Away”.  For me the best song on this record is the song that I love the most from Face to Face opus being “Disconnected”. Otherwise, this album didn`t have an impact on me, I dig acoustic punkrock but this one was just somehow passed me by and didn˙t hit me like some records do.
