(news) Punk rock all-stars Versus The World announce new album!

Post-punk/pop-punk band Versus The World, featuring members of Lagwagon and Good Riddance, announces their new album ‘The Bastards Live Forever’ today.

‘I can’t tell you how much work went into this collection of songs. I was always taught that if what you’re working on isn’t the best, you should start over. You should never put something out there that you’re not absolutely convinced of,’ says vocalist Donald Ashley Spence.

This perfectly thought-out post-punk album contains 11 anthems and represents a milestone this year for both the band and the punk rock landscape!

(review) Charlie Bit My Finger – ‘Back And Fourth’

Belgium’s Charlie Bit My Finger were already featured on the pages of this zine a while ago, when we reviewed their last release. This came out three months ago, a bit older release, but no matter. This one contains 14 songs and I must admit I love to hear how this band progressed from release to release in their melodic punk, with lots of pop punk parts and also nineties influenced faster skate punk. After the song ‘Breaking Out’ which has such fast skate punk guitar fantastic melodies and vocal harmonies came the surprise with ‘Stand Up’. This song mixes rap on verses with kind of light reggae parts and then explodes into so beautiful chorus, I think the best this band ever wrote. This one was new, but interesting combination. Since I first heard this band, there is one thing that I love about them also. Maybe it is because me being nostalgic sometimes, but these guys stand with both legs in melodic punk that I grew up with. Everything is here, melodies, harmonies, great lyrics, speed when needed, punk rock mid tempo when also needed and above all these guys remind me a lot of No Use For A Name, one of my all time favorite bands, also singer reminds of Tony Sly’s voice at times. My favorites on this one are ever changing but I will try: ‘Winning The Game’, ‘Backseat’ and ‘Dream On’.

(review) Knife Glove – Welcome to Prime Time

Knife Glove is a one man entity from Germany and this is the first demo opus containing five songs with Shreddy Krueger being the mastermind of all instruments and vocals. Yes, this is Freddycore. This demo and all its horror punk songs are dedicated to one and only Freddy Krueger as you might have guessed it from cover and title with sample from NOES part three. Considering music, this is horror punk par excellence with some really beautiful guitar melodies and choruses. Vocals are more gothic and sound too monotonous on some songs and could be a lot better if there is more drama in the singing itself. All of the five songs are in fact quotes from Freddy’s one liners in Nightmare On Elm Street movies which are one of my favorite horror franchises ever. My personal favorites are the title song, and You’re All My Children Now. The song Wanna Suck Face? sounds a lot like Bullet by Misfits in most of the song parts. Well, for first demo it is okay, let us see if singing improves and also some ideas in songwriting.
