(review) Knife Glove – Welcome to Prime Time

Knife Glove is a one man entity from Germany and this is the first demo opus containing five songs with Shreddy Krueger being the mastermind of all instruments and vocals. Yes, this is Freddycore. This demo and all its horror punk songs are dedicated to one and only Freddy Krueger as you might have guessed it from cover and title with sample from NOES part three. Considering music, this is horror punk par excellence with some really beautiful guitar melodies and choruses. Vocals are more gothic and sound too monotonous on some songs and could be a lot better if there is more drama in the singing itself. All of the five songs are in fact quotes from Freddy’s one liners in Nightmare On Elm Street movies which are one of my favorite horror franchises ever. My personal favorites are the title song, and You’re All My Children Now. The song Wanna Suck Face? sounds a lot like Bullet by Misfits in most of the song parts. Well, for first demo it is okay, let us see if singing improves and also some ideas in songwriting.

(review) ZombiesNO – The Big Reset

ZombiesNO are punk rock band based in Paris, France and this is their new, fifth release. This one offers twelve songs of fast and modern technical skate melodic hardcore punk, yet still standing with one foot firmly in nineties old school melodic punk rock waters. In some moments the songs remind me of Strung Out and Propagandhi, but at some times of let us say Lagwagon in more metallic songs and also a bit of No Use For A Name, especially in lyrics department which are great and I enjoyed reading them while listening to the album. Lyrics are personal, a kind of introspective, yet give hope and light in these troubled and darkened times, so that is another plus. Songs are mainly fast with some blistering guitar work and short solos, change of tempo and vocals that are deeper but singing great, backing vocal harmonies are fantastic. One of my personal favorites is Monster/Enemy In Common being darkened personal yet political anthem with awesome thrash metal solo and superb melody and lyrics. I am very impressed with musicianship of these guys and the energy they create. Just great record if you love your melodic hardcore punk done with skill and smart.

Trashed Ambulance – Cow A Bunga

Charlie Bit My Finger – Metronome

Word on the street is that these songs might be part of a future EP to come out soon on Montreal’s Thousand Islands Records.

About Trashed Ambulance:

Formed in 2014, Trashed Ambulance has defied all odds, member changes and hangovers to become a gnarly force in Central Alberta. Trashed has shared the stage with such punk rock juggernauts as Face To Face, Ten Foot Pole, The Real Mckenzies, SNFU, The Isotopes and Belvedere and it’s fair to say, the future is bright for this gang of miscreants. Keep your ear to the ground as these dudes are trashed and making a scene.

About Charlie Bit My Finger:

Charlie Bit My Finger is a 5-piece pop/punkrock band with lots of melodic riffs, straight-forward drums and clean vocals. They remind you of punkrock from the ’90s. A mix from Millencolin, New Found Glory and Bouncing Souls. Three years ago, they released their second full album and promoted this on their Canadian tour along with some other great shows in Belgium and abroad.
