Bourbon House released their new record containing eleven songs. The music of Bourbon House can be perfect soundtrack for drinking in smoky bar and listening to great mixture of Southern rock, heavy rock and hard n heavy with superb singer. She is the one whose voice can soar high octaves but also almost angry melodic snarl, depending on the mood of the song, Musicianship is tight and done with strength and conviction, but that would not matter were it not for great songwriting with all of the songs being hits for themselves. From hitters like ‘Resonate’, ‘Villain’ or ‘Blue Magic’ to two acoustic live songs, this band delivers a lesson in hard rock n roll and I am really glad that I discovered this band. This is a no holds barred music, made from fans of rock for fans of rock!
Finnish scene is thriving with great releases and Kuoleman Galleria just released their fourth full length opus with Inverse Records. This new opus contains nine songs. Music of this band can be described as black metal, but more into black n roll side of things. The lyrics are in Finnish so I don’t understand what is being sung about, but let the music do the talking. The title song reminded me a bit of Einherjer’s Dragons of the north era, in rhythm and tempo, also in vibe. Kolmas has that wicked guitar melody that is at the same time sad and melancholic but also aggressive song structure. Vocals vary from black metal screaming, but pretty understandable in emphasizing words, to spoken word and even horror movie like whispering at some times. I put some song titles into translator, so I am sure there is a lot of self irony, dark humor and sarcasm present in the lyrics like in some other Finnish bands, with Sentenced coming to mind immediately. although there is no likeness in music whatsoever. This is fine piece of black n roll music from the North and I love and enjoy every single second of it.
Također malo starije izdanje, ali koga briga. Floridski razarači, legendarni Obituary izdali su aktualni studijski album koji sadrži deset pjesama. Ovo je inače jedanaesti album ovih death metal legendi, institucije žanra koji su inspirirali cijele nove generacije bendova svojim stilom sviranja death metala i osebujnim vokalom Johna Tardya koji nije growl a niti scream, nego nešto između i uvijek ga se može prepoznati kada slušaš bend. Odmah me razorila pjesma ‘Barely Alive’, brza tupa tupa pjesma koja je više u thrash metal stilu, nego u onom poznatom Obituary mid tempu koju je bend usavršio desetljećima. Čujem puno thrasha i Slayera u ovoj pjesmi. Naravno, ima i klasičnih udarača kao što su ‘The Wrong Time’ te ‘Dying of Everything’, uz ‘War’ meni omiljene na ovome albumu. Ovaj bend je kao vino, što je stariji to je bolji, iako imaju dobrano više od tri desetljeća postojanja braća Tardy i ostatak ekipe nikako ne posustaju u stvaranju odlične muzike i odličnih albuma. Ovo je jedan od njih, koji nije ništa lošiji od zadnjeg, istoimenog albuma iz 2017.godine. Za svakog metal i death fana obavezna lektira.
