Zerfall are hailing from Italy and it is a relatively new band, but the members have served in the scene in entities such as Ras Algethi or Enoch and this is the new opus and it contains seven longer songs. Music of Zerfall can be described as blackened doom death metal with thundering distorted bass, many slower rolling drums parts of the songs and some post black metal influences. Special mention goes to keyboard work which is awesome, creating such bleak and horror atmosphere like in my personal favorite Symmetric Caustic Waves, which, although it is an instrumental is an atmospheric masterpiece. Listening to it I feel like walking through the night time street with that uneasy feeling that someone is watching you from the shadows. Vocal lines on this album belong more into death metal side of things being growled with occasional scream here and there. Songs like Neutron Star Company(NOVA) or Zeitgeist Vernichtung are sure to become your personal favorites. This is a superb blackened doom death opus.
New Terror record is unleashed upon the world and it is a blast! Here we have 10 songs of short but sweet fast unrelenting and merciless hardcore beating and brutality. But, beneath all of the brutality Terror never forgot their roots and where they came from, so there is that street core and street punk undertone beneath all of the metallic brutality and I can safely say Terror still lean more on their punk rock roots than on metal in their songwriting, although they somehow stand in both worlds. Scott Vogel´s vocals are trademark brutal and strong, along with gang backing vocals, strong lyrics and fast hardcore, sometimes venturing into moshing metallic parts only to return to hardcore punk waters again. Songs like Can´t Let It Go, Unashamed, Can´t Help But Hate are sure to win you over. There are also some guest surprise performances like for example Corpsgrinder(Yep! Surprise!) or Todd Jones. Great bomb of an album!
Holly Would Surrender are from Hamburg, Germany and this is their new e.p. out with SBÄM Records and I am so glad that I found out this band with this new release. This one contains ten songs of energetic melodic pop punk, not unlike nineties old school legends, I would compare it to Face To Face or Bracket if I had to compare their music to some bands. That means uplifting and positive sweet melodic songs, beautiful choruses, heartfelt emotional lyrics with dose of humor and fun. My personal favorites are Doing Fine and Never Surrender, but also Throw It Away. Songs are faster but not your fast hardcore skatepunk, rather punk rock uplifting tempo, musicianship is great and vocals and backing vocal harmonies are just perfect to make your heart flutter and your face lit up with joy and smiling when you are having a bad day and you just want some music to cheer you up and bring back hope. Nice one, indeed.
