Sinister King are band based in Bergen, Norway. This is their new self released e.p. and it contains 5 songs of melodic metal. Music of Sinister King borders somewhere in between melodic heavy metal, melodic death metal, more modern oriented groove metal and epic harmonies in greatly written choruses. Lyrics are more melancholic, as are guitar hooks and melodies providing atmosphere of darkness and despair mixed with beauty. Vocals are good, demanding of the song, sometimes growled and more shouted, sometimes more classic metal singing. Piano and synth undertones provide rich soundscape taking us away for the duration of this e.p. My personal favorites are the title song and Death Of All Joy. I await eagerly for more from this band.

Swiss metalcore/progressive/modern-metal five-piece SINEQUANON shared debut full-length album ‘Hope Brings Us Together’ for full streaming on YouTube // Out now on CD & Digital through the main legal platforms.
A couple of weeks after the official release of their debut full-length effort, Swiss metalcore/progressive/modern metal quintet, SINEQUANON also shared the whole record for free streaming on YouTube.
For reminder, the album – featuring and produced by Kris Norris from Darkest Hour, Threat Signal, Scar The Martyr…) – is still available on CD & Digital through Bandcamp and the main legal services (Apple Music, Spotify, iTunes, Tidal…)
SINQUANON is a Swiss metalcore project from Monthey founded in 2018 by Yann Savoini. His music is characterized above all by a balance of nuances. Poetic and sharp, light and furious at the same time, he releases all his sensitivity and his sincerity through strong and committed messages. Multi-instrumentalist, Yann composes and records all instruments. Then add different textures of keyboards and layers of voices that blend together, creating a real cocktail of (un)saturated colors. A surprising travel between radically different atmospheres composed of stormy breakdowns, apocalyptic rhythms and soothing cleans. Everything is enhanced by catchy and groovy choruses with an effective voice performance. Live, Benjamin Haeberli (drums), Johann Seydoux (guitar), Marco Ballerini (guitar) and Alex Jentsch (bass) join the combo to transcribe all the intensity of the compositions on stage. Yann takes the microphone for the occasion and leads the dance. The band is delighted to be on stage at many venues and festivals in Switzerland and all around the world to convey their message, enthusiasm and passion for music. Sinequanon joins AEON Music Management and plans to release the first album in 2021. American producer Kris Norris (formerly Darkest Hour, ex-Scar The Martyrs) joins the project in January 2019 to bring his experience. A solo adventure that started in a bedroom and will grow on roads around the world.
(review) Smorodina Reka – Predvestye
Smorodina Reka are hailing from Moscow, Russia and they are relatively new to the scene. This album means Foreshadowing in Russian. The music of Smorodina Reka can be described as a mixture of acoustic, symphonic and dark folk atmospheric ambiental music with combination of Slavic and Nordic folklore in the song structures. That means fantastic song arrangements, bombastic almost symphonic grandiose passages mixing with beautiful and proud voice delivering us, the listeners back to the times when things such as pride, honor, belief in yourself, warrior s heart and Nature meant something. I think we all lost a bit of ourselves in these modern fast times and we never stop to reflect and think why we do the things we do and what can we achieve to make our hearts and ourselves better and more in tune with ancient beliefs and that we find ourselves again. Well, the music of this band is doing just that for me. Lyrics are in Russian, but we Slavic brothers and sisters can understand each other well enough. If you read this one and are looking for restoring ancient pride in you, go listen and check this one out.
