Nice to see NAMET from Zagreb, Croatia are back with their brand new release. They had some personal problems, I was afraid that they will not be able to play anymore, but fortunately I was wrong. The new record is recorded by Filip from Studio Depth and it is a powerful tour de force. 8 songs with lyrics in Croatian language show all the anger and much needed rage in todays shitty world. The music of Namet is a mixture of hardcore punk, but with crust punk and darkened melodic death metal almost Gothenburg style melodeath riffs thrown here and there in the song structures, sometimes bordering with old school Swedish style of death metal and d-beat. The vocals are angry, screaming yet you can understand what is being sung so that is another plus. Recommended songs: Gnjev, Neka Gori, Pokvaren Do Srži. Great album by great band, so go support your scene.
Act The Fool are coming from Germany and they formed in 2017. They released one tape if I am not mistaken and this is their new e.p. containing four songs. These guys play fast and angry hardcore punk with political stand and lyrics, and I just can`t stress how important is to have such lyrics and bands in the scene, especially nowadays when fascism and right wing is on the rise again throughout Europe and the world, punk scene forgot that it was made for resistance, not only party and sunny drinking listening to the music. The lyrics deal with ecology, veganism, surviving in the modern world and a bit personal touch. For me, the best song on the record is Times Will Change, nice hardcore anthem.
The Brains are back with brand new full length record. Canadian cult psychobilly band led by frontman Rene De La Muerte has been in the scene for a long time and between the new duty as drummer for legendary Nekromantix and other projects, Rene found time for new record with The Brains. What I always loved about this band is that they are pretty melodic and somewhat melancholic besides energetic, and Rene´s vocals fit perfectly to the melancholy I am talking about. The new songs vary from slower more psychobilly rock`n roll songs to faster stuff that and I can only imagine what the new material sound like live. The title songs is cool, they also made a video for that one, starring Daniel from Rezurex if I am not mistaken, so check that out too. Other songs from the record that I somehow recommend as highlights are Hellhounds, Come By My Side and Lonely Wednesday. Great album by great band.
