(record review)DENS-No Small Tempest(Facedown Records)

Dens are from Richmond, VA and they recently released new record on Facedown Records. I listened to this one and reviewed it for our zine.

The record contains 4 songs of beautifully written and performed post hardcore with emo and indie rock influences. But, not all is so serene and calm as the description of their music might sound like. For example Sackcloth & Ash is pretty harsh and desperate soundscape mixed with soothing and warm heartfelt melodies. The lyrics are personal, music is technically played on very high level and I would like very much to see and hear this songs performed live because I am sure that would be an awesome experience. This four songs are an epic whole and my recommendation for you is that you listen this record in one instance, then you can experience it˙s worth. Nice.

(record review)MY OWN CO-PILOT-Textures

My Own Co-Pilot is a band started in 2017.by Michal Kosinski from Gothenburg, Sweden, with an idea to bring back the spirit of emotions filled hardcore back to the newer generations. I listened and reviewed  the record for our zine.

This record contains 4 songs. The music was recorded in Sweden and the vocals were done in USA, so you can say this is a Trans-Atlantic project. The music is hardcore, maybe the way it was done in late 90-ies or early 2000´s meaning rolling riffs, melodic and memorable guitar hooks and awesome screamed vocals. That makes an interesting whole with historical, but also modern value to the generations of newer kids who might never heard this side of hardcore. The lyrics are personal and for me somehow the song which touched me the most is This Crying, but the whole e.p. is one intense and memorable experience for the listener. This is a very strong record and I will remember it in the months to come while I wait eagerly for the full length-

(record review)ASPIGA-Dragged Through The Years

Aspiga are punk band from New Jersey and this is their new record out now. I had the privilege to listen and review the record for our zine. Read on!

This record is in fact a collection of remixed, rare and unreleased songs by this Collingswood, New Jersey band. Aspiga in fact started about a decade or more ago as a solo project by singer and guitarist Kevin Day and over time, releases and tours evolved into mighty trio with help of bassist Alec McVey and drummer Ray Solowij. This record contains 11 songs and the music this band plays is melodic punkrock with a lot of emotions and heart not unlike Jawbreaker, Deadends or The Menzingers. Meaning, tightly played midtempo punkrock with great vocal abilities provided by Kevin Day, melodic and memorable guitar riffs and melodies, anthemic choruses made for humming along all day long and the rythm section made of skillfull and tight musicians. The best and most memorable songs on this record for me are Searching, Good Thoughts and Spirits. This is a beautiful record.
