I always love the bands from Spain and other Spanish speaking areas because I always hear Spanish as beautiful language to sing on, making angry songs angrier, making melodic and emotional songs more emotional.
Free City is a band coming from Spain, Valladolid area and this is their brand new album. There are 13 tracks on this record and what I loved about this record is how this band easily fuses melodic and fast, energetic skatepunk with hardcore and some metal influences. The songs are very varied, there are also some keyboard undertones finishing “Tu Recuerdo” but there are also some straight punk hardcore songs like “Saiir corriendo” or “Huracan”. All of the lyrics are in Spanish and my knowledge doesn´t go far in that language so I am not able to tell what they are about, but I am sure these guys have their hearts in the right place. This is a good album, so support the guys and check out this record!
Great Collapse is, how I hate this word, hardcore punk supergroup, fronted by Strike Anywhere singer Thomas Barnett. This is their second album via End Hits Records.
The album contains 11 songs of melodic hardcore punk, played with ferociousness and virtue and above all, heart and soul. The song structures are fast paced drumming, some screamed and some sung vocals but above all, anthemic melodies are the stuff that make this album excellent. Lyrically, the topics are political activism, anti fascist action and socio political sensitivity. These guys have their hearts and minds in the right place and it is awesome that such bands with such lyrics bring across their ideas to the new generations of kids in the crowd. Absolute highlights on this album for me are “Who Makes?”, “Meltdown”, “An Injury To One” and “Patient Zero Comes Home”.
who is famous for singing in horrorpunk godfathers The Misfits, but also known for his solo work and strong work ethics which made him one of the hardest working artists in the scene!
