Thin Ice are hardcore band from Schweinfurt, Germany and this is their new promo e.p. release to shorten the wait until the release of the band’s debut full length album. This e.p. contains three songs , two new and one re-recorded version. This is a modern hardcore standing with one leg in the nineties and all those metallic releases a la Biohazard, Madball, old Ryker’s and Brightside. There are not so much fast hardcore punk drumming parts, but there are moshing and mid tempo hardcore song parts just made for stage diving and singing along to gang backing vocals. This is street core in its truest sense of word. Of all three my personal favorite is new version of Less Talk, More Action. I haven’t listened to it before, so it is new for me anyway.

(review) Dying East – s/t
Time for another band from our Croatian scene to grace the pages of this webzine. Dying East are coming from Županja, Croatia and this is their debut album release. This one contains 8 songs, Members of this band are veterans from many bands coming from that area. Fascinating such small town and so many great bands came from there in last twenty or even twenty five years. Someone should write a book about that phenomena. Anyway, these guys play wicked version of death thrash metal with some melancholic and epic guitar melody underneath it all like in one of my favorites Devil In The Skies. Music is mainly fast but changes from aggression to melody and back again to aggressive thrash death passages coupled with hardcore punk roots of the guys who played in many previous bands that influenced their music. Some songs also remind very much of Swedish school of death metal. Lyrics are in English and are pretty allegoric and personal but not something that I can not relate to. This is superb debut album and I wish all the best to the guys from the band. Hats off!
(review) Nordend – A Okay (Dedication Records)
Nordend are from German hardcore scene and this is their new e.p. containing five songs. I love this one. It is a perfect mixture of modern melodic hardcore with some metal and street punk influences, yet retaining one leg firmly into old school hardcore influences. If I must compare them to some band, they reminded me in some parts of Comeback Kid. Lyrics are in German language with vocals which vary from shouted, angry screaming, spoken word and melodic singing, all that meaning singer is fantastic. Energy Nordend delivers is also totally touchable, you can sense it and almost touch it in the air floating around you and in you. Songs are mainly your fast hardcore punk with some excursions into moshing and metalized parts here and there. As I understand and speak German, lyrics deal with personal demons, survival, coping and finding strength to go on and battle depression, everyday and look deep into yourself and transform all hardcore energy and heart into something worth living and positive. My personal favorites are A-Okay and also Selbstportrait. Great record.
