Although they broke up, NOFX released a documentary movie about their 40 year old career, which I unfortunately didn’t see yet. But, here is the soundtrack to the movie containing double cd treat. On the first one are 15 songs, containing trusted hits like Drugs Are Good, Separation Of Church And Skate, We Called It America, live rendition of Linoleum, but there are also some rarities like cover of La Bamba, On The Road recorded in Omaha in 1986, demo version of Secret Society, acoustic version of Punk Rock Cliche and in the end real treat, live versions of Nofx and the last new song the guys ever played live We Did It Our Way which always make goosebumps upon my skin while listening. This is what the first cd is. Second cd contains original movie music score written by Fat Mike himself. It is nice to see he tried himself in this one and succeeded proving how diverse and talented musician he is. This is a treat for all NOFX fans, and nice gift to cheer me up until I see the movie which I hope to catch somewhere.
NOFX su na zadnja tri albuma promijenili malo tematiku i stil te ušli u neke mračnije vode pogotovo tekstualno. Veliku ulogu je odigrao i dolazak odlične Karine Denike na klavijature i back vokale što je dodatno dalo novim stvarima neku višu dimenziju. Tko je čitao autobiografiju benda Hepatitis Bathtub znati će pronaći teme o kojima tekstovi govore. Nakon Single Albuma i Double Albuma stigao nam je Half Album, ustvari E.P. od pet pjesama koje nastavljaju tamo gdje su zadnja dva albuma stali. Fake A Wish Foundation je odlična baladna stvar koja govori o ozbiljnoj temi raka i umiranja od istog. I’mA Rat je odabrana kao najavni single i to ne bez razloga pošto se radi o brzoj Nofx stvari sa odličnim vokalnim harmonijama i melodijom kao i brzinom. The Queen Is Dead mi je najbolja stvar na ovoj ploči, iako mi se čini da sam je već čuo mislim na Cokie The Clown albumu, alter egu Fat Mikea, ali nisam ziher i ne da mi se ići sada provjeravati. Riječ je o dramatičnoj priči o smrti prijateljice. The Humblest Man In The World mi nekako nije legao, više kao minijaturni filler, iako pjesma nije sama po sebi loša, ali nekako mi je prerokerska. Najveći epski dio ove ploče je The Last Drag, kompleksna pjesma od preko 6 minuta, koja ni u jednom momentu nije dosadna. Sve u svemu, dobar E.P. benda koji se upravo u Europi oprašta od publike posljednjom turnejom nakon 40 godina postojanja. Hvala im na svoj dobroj muzici i koncertima.
