Back Garden Light are finally back under the light!
Today marks the release of Such a Shame, the fourth single from the French
band’s first album Back Garden Light out on February 26th. The infectious pop-
punk song is the follow-up to Hitting the Road that came out early 2021 as well
as two singles out since 2018 “Jumping Fences” and “The Right Side”.
This is what the band has to say about the catchy new track:
“We call it the hit among us because it’s probably the one with the most hit-like
elements, and it’s been the subject of a music video with our usual Van Espen team.
The song is in ternary which gives it an indecent groove for a pop punk song! The topic
is quite classic, we call out TV fans or people easily influenced by the media. Special
mention for the pre-break bell which was influenced by Futurama”

(review) The Lockdown – Waiting For Better Days (Effervescence Records)

The Lockdown is no stranger to this zine, because I already wrote about the first single by this project that started in March 2020 during lockdown by none other than Fab, main honcho of Effervescence Records. Now, digital version of the full length record is out, vinyl version will be out in March.
What do we have here? 11 song of really beautiful melodic punk rock, bordering between nineties melodic punk I grew up on and love so much, also having some pop punk influences in the song structures. My personal favorites on this record are The Good Old Times, a bit calmer Old Memories, Different People with such great vocal and backing vocal harmonies that continue throughout the whole record, also Never Forget which is song I listened to over and over again, like the title song with fast and nice, melancholic vibe. Lyrics are personal and I can totally relate to most of the songs, and that is just what I need in my punk rock and hardcore records that I listen to. That is why I love this genre of punk so much. So, if you love your punk rock melodic and from the heart, go check out this one. I know I love it!

(review) Airflip – All For One

Japanese Airflip have a new release containing eight beautiful songs. We already featured this band on pages of this zine. For those who don´t know, these guys play a fine mixture of melodic punk, skate punk and pop punk and I really love their sweet, ultra melodic sound. All song titles are in English, but I can swear that I hear some Japanese in some songs, but maybe it is only me. Vocals are superb, not snotty, but understandable and singing such epic melody lines with awesome backing vocal harmonies to follow the main melody. Musicianship is great and guitar lines are so lovely, I really love it, this record somehow manages to put smile on my face this Sunday morning while I drink my coffee and listen and enjoy this nice little release. Recommended songs as my personal highlights on this record would be: Under The Rainbow, My Last Rebellion and We Promise.
