(review) Bracket-bEST OF WURST(SBAM RECORDS)

cover

Bracket are back with new release on mighty Sbam Records. This one is a thirteen song record made of b-sides, demos and acoustic versions of some hits that this band provided during the years in the scene. What is there to say? Those who love Bracket will love this record too, consider it as a gift from band to the fans around the world making quite a few punkrockers faces happy in these shitty times with no gigs and festivals totally ruining the year and Summer and everything, but records like this one somehow make it hurt a bit less. My favorites on this record are When I Think Of You, an acoustic version of 2Rak005 and 867-5309-Jenny. This is the gift for the fans from the band, so if you are a fan you will not regret it, this is quality melodic punkrock with a touch of pop punk in the song structures.

(REVIEW) Akrabut-Agam Habakbukim

Time for a band from Israel to grace the pages of this zine. Haifa to be exact. On their page Akrabut says that they are coming from the ghettos of Haifa.  The music on this record sound just like that. There are six songs all being sung in Hebrew and they play raw and energetic hardcore punk with angry vocals which sail into some melodic waters here and there, almost crusty guitar riffs, darkened, almost apocalyptic atmosphere and some d-beat influenced song parts here and there. Unfortunately I really don´t know what the songs are about, so maybe they sing about political themes, maybe fun, maybe personal, I really don´t know. But, music speaks for itself that this is great e.p. for punx more oriented on the rawer side of things.

(review) Handjar-Live in Svora

Handjar are from Saint Petersburg, Russia. There are 5 songs on this release, recorded live in Svora Space. This is a short one. 5 songs each in about minute time, delivering hellburst of raw hardcore punk, yet with some melody underneath it all, delivering crushing apocalyptic d beat with some almost grindy stuff here and there. The lyrics are in Russian language, so I don`t really understand them, but Instinkt is my favorite among these five songs, being somehow the most energetic and epic. This is a good one. It is on Bandcamp, it is for pay as much you want, so go get it and support the scene.
