‘Dark Hands, Thunderbolts’ is a return to the rowdy guitars, epic choruses and Americana twang of Crazy Arm’s first two albums. This collection of songs finds the band in a reflective but no less indignant mood. It features the heaviest, the lightest and the most expansive songs that the band have recorded, with a strong cinematic influence at play, betraying their fondness for Ennio Morricone, Murder By Death and Constantines. Of course, their stock-in-trade – breathless punk rock riffola, Appalachian harmonies, syncopated rhythms, anthemic singalongs – are still very present and correct.

Bankrupt Release International Collab Video to Free Hostage

Michael Kovrig, one of the Canadians arbitrarily detained in China for almost 1000 days known as the Two Michaels, was living in Budapest, Hungary in the ’90s and he was the singer of a local band, Bankrupt.

The band says:

We released the song The Plane To Toronto in July to raise awareness of his situation. The overwhelmingly positive feedback we received inspired us to take this project a step further. We invited people from around the world to collaborate with us on a music video for this song. We wanted to demonstrate that people around the globe are willing to stand up for Michael and send a clear message to all governments involved. This nightmare has to end. We want Michael to be released now.

We have received over 60 videos from 15 countries on 4 continents. From Times Square to the Red Square, from the beaches of Sydney to the mountains of Colorado, from the Eiffel Tower to CN Tower, people of various ages, nationalities and backgrounds stood in solidarity with Michael. The video also features Michael’s family members and friends.

The video features some well-known figures of the international punk scene such as Stefan from punkrockers-radio.de, Dmitry Spirin from Tarakany, Rob from Punk Outlaw Records, and Shahab from Geykido Comet Records, who released our first demo with Michael on a compilation back in 1999.

And we won’t stop until Michael’s free. We invite everyone to create selfie photos or videos holding our Free Michael Kovrig poster or a handmade one and upload it to Instagram / Facebook / Twitter with the hashtag #freemichaelkovrig
They can also send them to us, and we’ll share the best ones.

We feel like we’re in the 24th hour to turn this around, and we’d like to do everything we can. We believe the more people hear about this story, the bigger the pressure will be on the politicians to make the necessary compromises and bring the Two Michaels home.

All profits from the song will be donated to Hostage International.
