DIY punkrock strikes again! Lifewentpear are from Germany and they released their new record so it was about time for me to have a listen and review! These guys play 10 songs of mainly midtempo melodic punk with some excursions into faster hardcore waters here and there in the song structures. The music kinda reminded me of Austrian band Deadends with ability to create sad smile upon my face, kind of unique melancholic sad feeling while listening to the record yet at the same time feeling better than ever, I just can`t explain that feeling with precision for you. The melodies are just beautiful, vocals are rough, raspy yet singing and I love how they sound. Backing vocal harmonies are done perfectly and I love kind of murky and gritty sound of the guitars and drums on the record. Great diy melodic punk jewel from the underground. Recommended songs: Treat objects like women, Procrastination Street, Mixed Feelings.
NOFUTAL are punk band from Bastia, France and this is their new record. This new one contains 8 songs. The music of NOFUTAL can be described as melodic punk with lyrics and song titles in French so I don`t really understand what they are about, but no matter, the music is nice, melodies are sweet with great vocalist and really nicely done backing vocal harmonies like for example in Divers Avaries sounding even a bit Nofx like. There are also some pop punk influences to the songs like La Faute A La Manette, another beautiful song. Vroum-Vroum is another highlight, powerhouse of fast skatepunk hardcore that has it all, melody, drama and intensity. Not to discover just all forya, I will tell you to go listen and discover this album and this fine band, you will not regret it!
UK punkrock veterans Snuff are back with their new record out with Fat Wreck Chords. I listened Snuff in the 90-ies when they were pretty big in this parts where I live, but somehow later lost track of them until I watched their show at Punk Rock Holiday in 2017. They were really fun to watch. The singer/drummer Duncan impressed me a lot with his playing and singing at the same time, although the music of Snuff is not your usual punkrock, they are for me more of an proggressive and avantgarde punk band utilising song structures very different from common songwriting in punkrock and that makes them unique and special. Some like it, some don˙t. The new record contains 12 songs of melody, melancholy, humour and happiness. I love Kings Of The Spanish Oi Scene, Patient Zero and Gyoza somehow being my favorites on this record. But, the rest of the material, with superb atmospheric Job And Knock is your quality prog melodic punk, so go get this new record by the UK veteran punks.
