Killing Innocence is a band from USA I first heard with this release, never listened to them before. This record contains 10 songs. It is interesting that I found this one when I researched horror punk but this is so much more. First, this is DIY recording, raw and unbridled without studio magic and it brings me to nostalgic days when we released tapes with rehearsal demos on it. Second, this is not horror punk. There are some horror punk and death rock influences in songs like ‘Evil Eddie’ or ‘Necrophiliac’ but there is also pure raw punk, with many Oi and street punk stuff in the song structures, but also Ramones are noticable in ‘The Wannabe Song’. This trio plays like punk is, anything goes, there are some mistakes or sloppy played parts, at least I heard it that way, but this is punk and that is why we love it isn’t it? If I must compare this band to some other bands, it would be Cancerslug, to which they reminded me in couple of songs a lot too.
These guys are from the streets of Fryslân, Holland and have been in the scene for a while having played in Spirit 84, DSS, No Denial, Dead Horse Running, de Hûnekop, Icepick, to name but a few.
This e.p. contains four songs in typical Euro street punk/OI way that I love so much and that I grew up with throughout the years. That means fine melodies on guitar, anthem singalong fist pumping in the air choruses and inspiring lyrics that are cliche in a way, but work with me just fine every time that I listen to such bands. I would love so much to see these guys playing live, jump and sing to the every lyric and just let loose. If I must choose my favorites of these four awesome songs, it would be Who Laughs Last and Lost In The System.
Bull Brigade are streetpunk oi band from Turin, Italy. This is their new e.p. out with Demons Run Amok. There are two songs on this record, the title song for which a video was made, excellent streetpunk with anthemic melodies, singalong chorus and larger than life guitar riffs. The second song, Circle In A Square is also punk anthem for the kids who found luck and love under cold street lights, for all of us who tasted the coldness of the street, harsh life and the vicory to be alive and show teeth to the enemy each day and believe in scene, friendship and survival in this rough world. Great little e.p.
