(review) Bracket-bEST OF WURST(SBAM RECORDS)

cover

Bracket are back with new release on mighty Sbam Records. This one is a thirteen song record made of b-sides, demos and acoustic versions of some hits that this band provided during the years in the scene. What is there to say? Those who love Bracket will love this record too, consider it as a gift from band to the fans around the world making quite a few punkrockers faces happy in these shitty times with no gigs and festivals totally ruining the year and Summer and everything, but records like this one somehow make it hurt a bit less. My favorites on this record are When I Think Of You, an acoustic version of 2Rak005 and 867-5309-Jenny. This is the gift for the fans from the band, so if you are a fan you will not regret it, this is quality melodic punkrock with a touch of pop punk in the song structures.

Big loser release ruby red as charity single for the austin justice coalition!

a1646284935_10

Austin’s own Big Loser choose not to stand on the sidelines. After the tragic death of George Floyd and the on going displays of police brutality, Big Loser wanted to give back to their community. The band penned a song titled “Ruby Red” and all money from the single will be donated to The Austin Justice Coalition. “In the wake of George Floyd’s death, it became apparent in vividly horrible colors the amount of systemic racism that has been and still is in place in America. Countless black stories were shared via social media along with raw footage of police brutality. Just recently a video was released of an unarmed black man, Jacob Blake, being shot in the back by police in front of his kids. It’s still happening. It’s difficult to not be emotionally affected by all of it, and that’s why we wrote “ruby red,” in hopes to release it and raise some money for a righteous cause. The Austin Justice Coalition is a racial justice group that educates and builds community power for people of color who live in Austin, Texas, that need support, community, and liberation during a time of systemic injustice in America. The issues in America run deep and wide, but we chose to team up with AJC because we believe the fight for justice starts locally and they’re a great organization helping those in need right now.” – Chase D. Spruiell. The release of “Ruby Red” is timed perfectly with the September edition of Bandcamp Friday – the monthly event where Bandcamp waives their revenue share on all sales. Big Loser released Love You, Barely Breathing on Black Numbers earlier this year.

Bio:

Big Loser is an American rock band formed by frontman Chase D. Spruiell. Pairing hard hitting lyrics with glistening song arrangements the band has quickly earned a seal of approval in the underground scene. Love You, Barely Living is their Black Numbers debut and everything about it is big. Haunting guitars, roomy drums, and epic sing-along’s set the tone for Chase and the rest of Big Loser to showcase their songwriting skills. Love You, Barely Living plays like a coming of age film where no matter how many times the protagonist falls you just know they are going to be alright in the end.

GEARHEART PRESENTS LIVELY VIDEO FOR THE EMOTIVE NEW SINGLE “WILDFLOWER”! THE GROUP’S NEW ALBUM – “LOBOTOMIZED” – IS NOW OUT!

32f1414f-9845-4298-b74e-84a13ace1dab

Pop-punk formation Gearheart is celebrating the release of the band’s brand new full-length record – “Lobotomized” (out today) – with the third single of the said record (after the previously presented and enticing “Don’t Call” and the politically-charged “Fall From Grace”)- the lively and emotionally-induced “Wildflower”! Possessing a level of raw and passion that only a few artists in the genre are able to replicate, “Wildflower” selects a great diversity of influences by taking advantage of the best elements of Gearheart’s talents. The track delivers a monolithic, unique sound with an extra dose of likability, which shows an incredible amount of sincere personality, with the members of the band exhibiting their natural ability to engulf the listener in infectious melodies and continuous integration of thoughtful instrumentation, successfully utilizing vocals, catchy choruses, and thematically focused lyrical content. The whole product is only further strengthened by its respective visual representation, which is responsible for adding a pleasing sense of nostalgia and melancholy to the “Wildflower” experience!

Providing detailed information regarding the influences behind the making of “Wildflower”, Gearheart adds: “This song is about finding the person or thing that you love, where you would least expect it and then the vulnerable feeling that overwhelms you when it’s gone. Someone that helped you find who you really are, someone so amazing that it changes your perspective of life and shows you the light of hope at the end of the tunnel. The video we put together is a love letter to all the fans that we have made and venues that we have played at along the way. Something we all took for granted just 5 months ago, the people we get to meet and the familiar faces every night, disappeared with this pandemic. We miss each and everyone and can’t wait to get to perform for everyone again when all of this is over.”

“Wildflower” is the third single of “Lobotomized” – Gearheart‘s brand new full-length album – now available everywhere!
