(review) Haywire – I Don’t Wanna Say Goodbye (Roadrunner)

Boston’s Haywire signed to Roadrunner and here is the new record containing 9 songs. For those who don’t know, Haywire play awesome hardcore punk with OI street punk sound in the song structures, raw and harsh, but with melody in the background. It all starts with doo wop intro called Haywire In May(ft The Aggrolites), becoming one hell of a ride of Boston street punk hardcore with songs like That’s Life or one of my favorites, anthemic I Don’t Want To Say Goodbye(ft Nothing). I love that melancholic guitar melody in the songs topped with anthemic sing along choruses and making you wanna hug a sweaty kid next to you in the pit. Flex Your Head is a bit more aggressive hardcore song reminding me of some old Boston style from the eighties. Another one of my favorites is Interstate Love Affair, having such beautiful, mighty but melodic chorus and vocal lines. Forever Alone (ft. Eyes Of The Lord & Death Threat) is a gang vocal sing along hardcore banging hitter right between your eyes. For me THE song on this record is Trouble In Paradise (ft. Cheyanne Snider), I listened to this one couple of times in a row. Just when you think it couldn’t get better comes Perfect Strangers and Sincerely Yours, songs where rough but melodic singing comes perfectly and reminds you why you love hardcore punk and this is for sure in my opinion one of the best records that came out this year.
