Autumnfall was formed in 2019 as a brainchild of Jussi Hänninen and this is their fourth full length opus. There are eight songs on this one. Music of Autumnfall is melodic black metal with some melodic death metal influences, even some folk metal but not in many songs. What I love about Finnish bands is a dose of melancholic anguish that you can hear in superb epic melodies Autumnfall provides. Large melodic guitar work, hooks, topped with keyboard parts that fit perfectly to the song structures and black metal screaming vocals, sometimes death metal growl, mix with blast beats and faster parts, aggressiveness with melody and shows all beauty of black metal and how it is made and Autumnfall does it good. There are interesting solution in some songs, like the drum work in Lightless Depths and guitar that add this song aforementioned folk vibe, although maybe it is only me hearing it that way. Lyrics are in English language and for me songs Mists Of Eternity, Lightless Depths and The Blind Brother are somehow my highlights of this album. So, if you love your black metal melodic and epic this is a fine opus to grab your claws onto.
