What to say about this except that it was a total blast? Such energy, such atmosphere, such love in the air and punkrock of course. This is annual gig in our hometown dedicated to all our dead sisters and brothers that we lost through the years. This year it had one of the strongest line-ups ever, with two bands I was very happy to see again, being the bands that formed me as a person when I was young in the mid nineties and of course our hometown heroes. Club was filling with people when our hometown guys DEAD DOG SUMMER took the stage. I saw them live many times, but I always love their shows, they are somehow intimate for me, like talking to me through their songs and messages. They delivered set made of material and all the hits from their two albums and nicely prepared us for what’s to come. Next, NULA. To explain, this is the band that made me as a person in the nineties dark times of war, dictature and post war depression with their angry anarcho hardcore punk and I was eager to see them again. They had two vocals, but now only Mitre sings, with drummer and guitarist helping and jumping in and it sounds cool. They played enough songs from their new, returning album and I must say that I am not that used to that songs, but atmosphere quickly became boiling with old hits like Kaos Media, Tupilo, Pandurska Idila, Anarchy Language, Demokracija. I love how Mitre talked between the songs about what they are about and there was pogo, sing along and great energy from stage and back from the crowd. Of course they left for the end hits like Pobjedimo Laž, Kurvini sinovi and Ljubavna pjesma 92. I really enjoyed their set. And now, stage was set for headliners FAKOFBOLAN from Pula, also one of the bands that we listened a lot in the nineties and after, singing their songs, my band also covered two of their songs in our set regularly. They had a couple of years pause, changed drummer, the new one is an animal behind the kit and they are back now. They sound tighter than ever, delivering blistering set of hit after hit with Ostali smo, Lovci na vjetrenjače, Neznani junaci, Glasnice, Ulica, Pula ratuje, Predgrađa, Sarajevo, and two new songs which went really well with the crowd who were absolutely crazy. Singing along, fists in the air, even crowdsurfing form beginning to the end after couple of encores which encluded old hits like Kota 313 and Ropstvo je sloboda. Welcome back Fakofbolan, we missed you. Love and energy was in the air and I can safely say that this was for me one of the best We Salute You gigs ever if not the best. I apologize to PANK SVADBA who were playing after with various punk covers to keep the party going, but I went home because I was totally exhausted after such great gig and energy. Once again, Čakovec proved to be THE place for great gigs.
